I am a maker working between art and design.  

My work investigates and constructs alternative narratives of systems, ecologies and social structures via process-driven, active methods of enquiry, refusing and resisting normative capitalist structures and temporalities.

My practice is rooted in land and is often site specific, sometimes celebratory, sometimes  subversive - frequently inconclusive. I dig, gather, axe, and grow my materials, reframing and reflecting on issues around pollution, production and overwhelming consumption. 

Exploring the complexities of care, civic responsibility, cyclic (re)generative practices and DIY culture the outcomes of my work broadly manifests as sculpture, performance and community engaged collaboration.

Investigating wild clay and soil health, I explored the often overlooked landscapes buried beneath our feet.Our soils are largely unknown to us, concealed by concrete pavements and tarmac roads; lying below, yet holding up and shaping a city.Focusing on porosity and permeability, I gathered and processed wild clay, creating a series of ceramic vessels that opperated as a water irrigation system for the newly built herb beds and a worm compost for the garden.&#38;nbsp;Exploring hospitality, conviviality and cyclic economies that embrace beyond human ecologies, this work becomes a lens through which we can understand and engage with underground environments. 
The work was displayed alongside an exhibition, seeking to highlight the importance of regenerative, reciprocal practices and the relationships between ourselves, other bodies and our landscapes.


Commissioned for Trowbridge Gardens through funding from LLDC’s 2022 Neighbourhood Priorities Fund.

Soil Rituals&#38;nbsp;Performance, Installation &#38;nbsp;Soil Rituals performed at&#38;nbsp;Future of Life, HfG Karlsruhe&#38;nbsp;“Exploring soil spiritually, politically, materially and ecologically, Soil Rituals creates a holy place, a site, where we investigate the multiple complexities of earth, utilising ceremony and performance.
 
Through a series of processes and tools, designed to facilitate the movements, gestures and rhythms of the ceremony, designers Stav Bouzaglo and Jessy Harper-Solomon create Soil Rituals to think through the entanglements of agriculture, labour, and soil, whilst deepening a curiosity and intuitive relationship with earth.”&#38;nbsp;

The releasing of the worms: The exhibition opened with the releasing of the worms into the ceramic worm compost made for the garden space. It was a celebration of worms, regeneration and soils.&#38;nbsp;

Data QuiltsEcology, Research, Speculative Data&#38;nbsp;
&#38;nbsp;Data Quilts was a research project exploring both current and future social and biological ecologies of the canals and waterways in London, investigating how we view, consume, translate and preserve environmental information through making practices. The focus was on designing ways to visualise otherwise invisible or abstract data, like pollution levels within our waters.

 It began by wondering what was in the water? How could a making process help us understand if the water was clean or polluted?

Natural dyeing processes are sensitive to the water that's used, added metals, or acids can vastly change the outcome colour. Comparing water samples from across the canal network, this process helped visulalise this data. This project brought into question the future of traditional craft processes and how they would change in a damaged environment.&#38;nbsp;
Extrapolating upon current climate predictions in the IPCC report, the natural dye processes were repeated with each water sample with the addition of hormones, metals and artificial fertilisers to simulate a future in which our waters become increasingly contaminated and polluted.

 Working with local hair salons, this project explored the material and practical potentials of human hair.

”We will be exploring our relationship to clay and landscape through walking, foraging, writing and making. You will be guided through the processes of creating ceramic, learning ways to sustainably harvest local clay, processes and mix clay bodies and create pieces using hand building techniques.”&#38;nbsp;
The Wild Clay workshop investigated soil and clay, regenerative practices, and how we collectively shape and look after our shared ecologies. The workshop explored the relationship between ourselves, bodies and our landscapes. Beginning at Wormwood Scrubs, we dug through the compacted history of the site and questioned, how can we remember what lies buried beneath? How can we find new ways of making and healing together?&#38;nbsp;
